  • The Varieties of Democracy Project releases the most comprehensive dataset on democracy in the world

    [11 May 2017] Today is a momentous day for anyone interested in democracy. The Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Project is releasing a new and even larger version of their democracy dataset, now covering 17 million data points on democracy and 177 countries in the world up to 2016.

  • No democracy without women's rights

    [11 Apr 2017] Why did the Arab spring fail? Despite a number of revolutions in the Arab world, in the end only Tunisia emerged as a functioning democracy. Results from an interdisciplinary research project at the University of Gothenburg indicate that the problem might be traced partially to the lack of women¿s civil rights in the region.

  • Psychosocial programmes for children in war-torn Sri Lanka shows good results

    [27 Mar 2017] Different psychosocial rehabilitation programmes for children have somewhat different results, due to differences in resources, methodologies and objectives. But a much more significant difference appears when comparing rehabilitated children with children who have not undergone any rehabilitation at all. This is shown by a study from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
