Postgraduate Student's Council

Do you have opinions on the postgraduate training program and the way your courses are run? Are you curious about the conditions for doctorate students in other departments and faculties at the University? Would you be interested in working to improve those conditions and finding out more about how the organization works?

Then welcome to the Postgraduate Students’ Council at the Faculty of Social Sciences!

The Postgraduate Students’ Council at the Faculty of Social Sciences organizes doctorate students within the faculty and strives to increase the students’ possibilities to influence their own work situation and education. We work to improve equality and transparency, to increase the possibilities of internationalization of our work, and to create a healthy situation for the students.

As our representatives are elected members of the faculty’s highest executive and advisory boards, we have the opportunity to keep ourselves informed and to influence decisions affecting our education and other issues within the faculty - both long and short term.

A successful example of our long term work is the initiative for a policy document sum-marizing the lowest level of rights and obligations applicable to postgraduate students (STYRDOKUMENT Dnr V 2015/327)

A short term achievement
was our influence on the decision to establish a five credit course in pedagogy. As preparation for upcoming meetings where we are represented (e.g. the faculty board or the research and graduate school committee) and as a forum for feedback and exchange of information from said meetings, we meet continuously throughout the year, three times per semester.

Our efforts are also remunerated. For example, a member of the postgraduate students’ council will have their tenure extended by seven days per annum, whereas an elected member of the faculty’s BFF will have their tenure extended by 15 days per annum.

If you are interested in this type of work and would like to meet other likeminded persons, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
