The QoG Institute regularly organizes seminars related to research on Quality of Government. The seminars address the theoretical and empirical problem of how political institutions of high quality can be created and maintained as well as the effects of Quality of Government on a number of policy areas, such as health, the environment, social policy, and poverty. Speakers are invited from the international research community and experts from NGOs and other organizations to the lunch seminars. The seminars last for one hour and include a short presentation by the speaker (30-35 min) followed by a joint discussion about the topic. If nothing else is indicated, the seminars are held in English.

Lecturer: Anselm Hager, Assistant Professor of political economy at the graduate school of decision sciences in Konstanz.

Welcome to the Jörgen Westerståhl Lecture 2019 with Professor Colin Hay: "Homo politicus and the "problem of agency": the missing subject of modern political science". Registration not needed.

Lecturer: Colin Hay is one of the top European political scientists of our time, sharing his time between Sheffield University, Sciences Po in Paris and the EUI in Florence. His work covers a broad range of political science, including political economy, political ideology and globalization studies. He has also published extensively on the political science discipline as such, reflecting on the quality and relevance of contemporary political science analyses. He is a prolific writer; his most recent (post-2012) publications include 11 books and about as many articles. He has received major research grants from the ESRC and from the Leverhulme Trust in Britain. He is also the recipient of numerous awards, including The Richard Rose Prize, the WJM MacKenzie Award and the Philip Abrams Memorial Award.
