Docent lecture: How to build your post-doc on a house of cards: Applying Construal Level Theory to deception detection


Erik Mac Giolla completed his PhD in 2016 with a thesis on true and false intentions. He has a broad interest in legal psychology and has conducted research into such diverse themes as eyewitness memory, deception detection, and investigative interviewing. In addition, he has conducted more basic research on social cognition, as well research examining how personality differences relate to country of origin and gender. He is currently working on a project, funded by The Swedish Crime Victim Compensation and Support Authority, aimed at developing methods to improve eyewitness testimony by people who have Swedish as a second language. Erik Mac Giolla works as a lecturer at the Department of Psychology, University of Gothenburg
